This popular Japanese store is packed with imported foods, unique snacks, and original items like もへじ_MOHEJI you won’t find anywhere else.
In many cases, you can find this store as a tenant inside shopping malls or station buildings.
They offer a curated selection of wines and snacks, a wide variety of sweets, and an assortment of teas — all of which can inspire new ideas for your everyday table.
KALDI also offers an extremely popular “Food Lucky Bag,” which is sold through a lottery system. And luckily, I won the drawing!

How to Get One
The first step is to download KALDI’s official app and create a member account.
For this year, the application period ran from November 19 to December 3, 2025. The results will be announced through the app on December 15, 2025. At that time, you can choose the store where you’ll pick up your lucky bag during the New Year holidays.
Once you’ve confirmed that you won the lottery, you can pick up your lucky bag at the store you selected. This year, the pickup period was from January 1 to January 6. Payment is made at the time of pickup, so be sure to bring your confirmation and settle the fee at the counter.
As you can see in the image, the zodiac sign_干支_えと_ETO for 2026 in Japan is the Year of the Horse. You can spot special items featuring horse‑themed designs.
As you can see, KALDI’s New Year lucky bags are filled with festive touches to celebrate the start of the year, and many KALDI‑loving homemakers eagerly enter the lottery for a chance to get one.
It’s actually quite hard to win.
But life is full of surprises — even some winners never show up to claim their lucky bags. If you unfortunately didn’t win this year, don’t give up just yet.
After the pickup period ends, keep an eye on KALDI’s website. Sometimes leftover stock is released on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
So, what’s inside?! 気になる内容
Bag is made from a durable polyester‑cotton blend and includes a convenient inner pocket. The zippered opening keeps everything safely inside.
Inside the bag, you’ll find items like salad dressing, maple syrup, drip‑coffee packs, seaweed rice crackers, and a tin of tea.
I actually haven’t tried any of them yet. Once I open everything, I’ll share my thoughts here — so stay tuned.
One of my favorite items from this lucky bag is perfect for making a fresh, flavorful salad. Just combine lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes, then top it with Korean seaweed to finish off the perfect bowl.

But since I’m a Japanese person who loves spicy food, this is the one I truly want you to try. Toss it with bean sprouts, cucumbers, steamed chicken, and thinly sliced green onions. It pairs amazingly well with an inexpensive beer.
